Mykonos Town

Whitewashed buildings, brightly painted shutters and doors, stone-studded stairways, flower-filled window boxes and a labyrinth of narrow streets are all features that make Mykonos town a pleasure to explore both day and night. Mykonos town, referred to locally as Chora, is situated on the west coast of the island and is said to be one of the best examples of architecture typical to the Cyclades region of Greece.

Park your rental car outside of town and take a stroll through the winding network of narrow streets, purposely built that way to protect the town's inhabitants from pirates in days gone by. Sidewalk cafés, pubs, clubs, restaurants, souvenir shops, clothing and jewellery stores offer everything visitors could ask for. The port is very scenic and has a number of cafés where you can relax, enjoy some refreshments and soak up the atmosphere of an authentic Greek experience.

The iconic windmills on the hill behind the town can be seen from many vantage points and are among the most photographed attractions on the island, as is Petros the pelican who can often been seen on the port. Other local attractions include Panagia Paraportiani, a complex of five chapels built over centuries, the Town Hall and the nearby Archeological Museum.

Certainly, there is something for everyone in Mykonos Town and it is well worth spending some time there during your island visit. Contact us to arrange your car rental. We will deliver your car to the port, airport or your accommodation.
